The point is to enjoy losing one’s self in the labyrinth of images. Or to end up in the gondola of a balloon draped over white cliffs. This is a most strange image: as if Scotty has declared war on time and movement. And won. The geological strata of the cliff testify to time become an image: stacking of folding of epochs into a cross section. Movement has also become stasis; the balloon’s beautiful flight has been interrupted by its encounter with the land. Its all a frozen moment for the spectators in the fore ground. Who seem as bothered as the balloon’s passengers. It is as if Scotty is speaking from within geology itself: “don’t worry” he says “its all going to be all right. Remember this is just an image.”
